At Ballast, we believe in transparency and putting you in control of your data. This Privacy Policy explains in simple terms what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can manage it.

2. Using Ballast

When you start using Ballast, we create a unique ID for your device to provide access to our services. This allows you to use the app without needing to create an account or share personal information. Later, if you choose to, you can create a full account without losing any of your data.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers unless you choose to share it anonymously:

  • Strategy information and settings you've configured
  • Notes: All observation, decision notes, buy and sell targets and temperature checks
  • Predictions: Your price and market predictions
  • List Details: Your asset lists and their contents
  • App preferences and settings
4. Data Shared Anonymously

You can choose to share certain data anonymously to help us improve our services, deliver community insights, and provide feedback:

  • Temperature checks
  • Price targets
  • Asset list changes

This data is always anonymized and never linked to your identity. You can toggle this feature on/off in Settings at any time.

5. Data We Store on Our Servers

We keep minimal data on our servers, only what's needed to provide our services:

  • Device ID: A unique identifier for your device
  • Basic device info: Platform type and app version

If you choose to join the waitlist or create an account, we additionally store:

  • Account information: Email address
  • Profile details: Name (if you create a full account)
  • Waitlist status: Date joined (if applicable)
6. Your Privacy Controls

Ballast gives you full control over your data:

  • Anonymous Data Sharing: Toggle on/off in Settings
  • Delete Account: Permanently remove all your data from our servers
  • Convert to Full Account: Turn your anonymous profile into a regular account
  • Export Data: Request a copy of your data (contact support)
7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption for all data transfers
  • Secure storage with strict access controls
  • Regular security reviews and updates
8. Third-Party Sign-In Services

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic information (email address and name) to create your account. This process is governed by the respective privacy policies of Apple and Google during the sign-in process. We use a unique identifier from these services to authenticate you securely, and we do not share your Ballast data back to these providers.

9. No Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data is only used to provide and improve our services.

10. Policy Updates

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you through the app. Minor updates will be reflected here with the "Last Updated" date.
